Parade Details

Words of Welcome | 2008 Sponsors | 2008 Homes | 2008 Parade Map | 2008 Parade Ticket Information

The participating builders and associate members of the Outer Banks Home Builders Association hope you will join us for this annual Parade. And our tour is your tour – to be taken on your own timetable through Sunday, October 12. All Parade homes are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. all four days of the tour. These homes are each a unique interpretation of life at the beach – be it design of the home, themed décor, location or purpose– with tremendous diversity among the offerings.

For four days only you can personally experience homes from 1300 square feet to over 8000 square feet; from three bedrooms to ten; from the year-round comforts and amenities of a home in which you can realistically live all the way to the sumptuous luxury and modern conveniences provided by custom commercial kitchens, screen rooms, fire pits, plunge pools and waterfalls. Multiple master suites, custom trim and novel décor, the use of numerous exotic hardwoods and extensive decorative tile work, as well as the new “must haves” – elevators, media rooms, home theaters, game rooms, pools and spas, and tiki bars – round out the sampling.

The participating builder members, their staff members and vendors will be in the homes each day until 6 p.m. Your $10.00 ticket may be purchased in advance, at any of the homes or at select ticket outlets. Your ticket is valid for all four days of the event and a portion of all ticket proceeds will go to support the OBHBA Charitable Fund and the Outer Banks Food Pantry. Preview the entire Parade at our website www.obhomebuilders.org or you may call the Outer Banks Home Builders Association at 252-449-8232.

Parade of Homes FAQ's

Welcome to our Parade—may it not rain on it or you!
While we both expect and encourage this to be a “freestyle” touring experience for you, we have a few tips to share with you that may make it more enjoyable, and answer some of the questions you may have.

The BIG QUESTIONS

Question: Where do we get tickets?
Answer: Tickets are available in every home, where they will also be punched as you arrive. Or you may purchase them at the WalMart as you enter the beach from the north. One $10 ticket is the admission price for one person for all 32 homes, and they are good for all four days so you may tour at your own pace, starting in any area you choose.

Question: When are the homes open?
Answer: They are open each day, October 9-12 from 10 a.m.—6 p.m.

Question: What does the category letter mean?
Answer: The category is determined based on the actual raw cost of the home itself, exclusive of overhead, profit, the lot and any other amenities like landscaping or a pool. Simply stated, it is the amount that it cost for the pile of building materials that was delivered to the site plus the amount of money that was paid to our skilled tradespeople to turn the materials into the finished product you are touring.

Question: How can we find the homes when they are all spread out?
Answer: The homes have been numbered from north to south beginning in Corolla. With the comprehensive map pages located in the center of this book and the brightly colored directional signs installed along the Parade route, you should easily be able to find each home.  Additionally, all Parade homes are identified by large blue, white and black Parade of Homes flags - only homes flying the official Parade of Homes flag and identified by a coordinating numbered sign are part of the Outer Banks Home Builders Association’s annual Parade.

Question: How do we vote for the People’s Choice Award?
Answer: In each home a plastic tub is easily accessible at the area where the builder has chosen for punching and selling tickets. When you finish the tour, you simply circle the number of the home that you liked best in each category and leave the ticket in that container. The house numbers are listed next to each category on the back of the ticket. You may vote for only one home per category. And don’t forget to fill in your contact information, as your ticket also enters you for the long weekend  “Getaway Giveaway,” allowing some lucky winner accommodations and golf during an off-season trip back to the beautiful Outer Banks !

Thank you for joining us for this Parade. A portion of ticket proceeds benefits local residents through projects of  OBHBA Charitable Fund.
