Number 11 Sixth Avenue is the type of project that we, as builders, love. Under continuous ownership since 1983, this year brought a total transformation to this cozy second home. Once adorned with T-111 interior walls and pickled trim, Number 11 has stepped out from its dated vernacular of 80’s Beach Cottage and into the new century with its sharp lines and coastal contemporary style. While only adding 400 square feet, no detail was left untouched. Behind the walls, new insulation, wiring and mechanical systems were replaced. Outside the walls, the home received new cedar shake siding, Andersen windows, a standing seam metal roof with skylights, custom casework, tiled baths, and a maple and stainless steel railing. Seeing is believing, and Number 11 sets the pace for what can be done with an existing home.

Rachel and Matt Neal comprise Neal Contracting, continuing a family building heritage on the Outer Banks that extends back to 1979. Matt learned the home building business from the ground up, first working as a subcontractor, followed by starting his own contracting company in 2006. Matt thrives on working with his team of professionals, and is always at home on the job, leading from the field. Always available by phone or email, Rachel Neal provides the core support to the company, managing client communication, finish selections, cost control, vendor relationships, and key design advice. Together, they work as a tight knit team with complementing skills to deliver a finely constructed home and continued client satisfaction.
