Meet the 2017 Parade of Homes Builders

What’s New? Who’s New?

Welcome to the 25th Annual Parade of Homes in the beautiful Outer Banks of North Carolina.

What keeps it fresh? Fresh designs, new products, a scattered site format across 60 or so miles of coastline and new participating builders added to the mix.

This is where we talk about our mix of builders. Not to take anything away from our tried and true veterans, this year we have four “first-timers” in the Parade. Since the building industry is rebounding, we have seen a few new builders relocate to the Outer Banks. One of those transplants is Phillip Lenz of Lenz Homes, part of our “next generation” of builders, and the builder of the #9 house.

Then we have two who have previously been involved in different aspects of the industry who decided that they would follow their passion for building by becoming licensed contractors – Debbie Griggs (Salt House Designs previously an interior designer and Michael York (The Coastal Cottage Company) previously a home designer. You may visit them in homes #8 and #15 respectively.

In direct contrast, the #3 home on the oceanfront in Whalehead is brought to us by Olin Finch of Finch & Company, who is easily the most experienced builder in this year’s Parade. He just never entered a home in the Parade until this year! And we hear this one is filled with special touches.

Then, of course, we are always pleased to feature our faithful returnees, who enter as often as their workload and availability of a Parade-worthy home will allow. The homes being offered by that group this year include a new year-round home with pool by DeBoy Construction & Remodeling for under $300,000 all the way up to a 24-bedroom investment opportunity on the oceanfront. And everything in between. SAGA Realty & Construction, our largest building firm, has four homes between 2295 sf and 10,646 sf, demonstrating they can build anything a client wants; David Buchanan of Compass Edge Construction has a dual purpose (rental now and future second) home in Corolla; Forrest Seal, LLC found a scarce lot in the gated Buck Island community and built a home that epitomizes life at the beach – and it could be yours immediately; Steve Daniels of Renaissance Construction is showing us what 2600+ sf of luxurious comfort looks like on the Corolla soundfront; Matt and Rachel Neal of Neal Contracting have brought us another of their clean designs filled with special finishes just across from the ocean in Kitty Hawk; and finally, Joe McGraw of Albemarle Contractors, Inc. is allowing us to experience his first ever ICF (Insulated Concrete Form) home, which will be a first for most attendees as well.

So, with all that diversity, we know you’ll be paying each of them a visit between the 5th and 8th of October! Tickets are $10 and good for all four days of the Parade!
