In 2011 Sam and Teri Howell purchased this 1984 saltbox style home with the intention of one day renovating and adding an addition to make it their permanent home. In 2018 they came to us with a preliminary plan for the renovation of their beach house. After discussing their needs and why certain things were designed as they were, we made some modifications to the original drawings. Having a large family, they wanted to make sure there was room for their grown children and grandchildren. The final layout involved converting the top level, which was two bedrooms that shared a bathroom, into a top level, master suite with access to an ocean view deck. On the main level we expanded the kitchen and screened porch, added a new front entry, large family room, bathroom, laundry, and stairs down to the lower level. The newly added lower level includes closets for storage, a private bedroom & bathroom along with a two-car garage. We have built in a shaft for a future elevator that stops on each floor. New windows, siding, decks, roof and a new driveway complete this remodel. We took this 1,800 sq. ft. salt box and made it a 3,600 sq. ft. custom home for this family.
